Frequently Asked Questions
Are you farming in the forest?
Well, yes! We are surrounded by evergreens and it allows us a unique microclimate to grow our flowers and harvest our seeds. I always have time to talk about flowers, seed production and clay. Shoot me an email if you’re interested to chat!
Do you allow farm visits?
Not at this time. But in the summer when everything is in bloom, we allow photographers to book private sessions in our flower field. Please have your photographer send us an email! We want you to experience the golden hour. farmintheforestinfo@gmail.com
Do I really need a “green thumb” to grow seeds?
I truly believe that all you need is sunshine, good soil and water for seeds to sprout. I believe in you, and if I can do it, you can do it! You’ve got this!
Do you have “King’s Ransom” Sweet Pea seeds?
Yes! I am hoping to have a substantial harvest this fall and will continue to update on social media and email when my first ever seed sale will take place. Get added to our email distro for updates.
Are you Certified Organic?
Not yet! I’m hoping to begin the long process this year. All of our flowers, seeds, and food that we eat rely on compost, sunshine, water, fresh forest air and sometimes certified organic sluggo if my chickens and ducks can’t get the job done. I keep honey bees that pollinate our flowers.
How did you get into all of this?
I am fortunate enough to serve in the Navy and after returning from deployment in 2021, I visited Bayview Farm and Garden and saw my first dahlia. I picked up the 5 gallon pot and planted it by our front door. I realized the joy and peace that could be found through gardening. Each time a seedling reaches towards the sun, it brings a kind of serenity and sublimeness into my life that I wish for all of my friends to have. It is how I destress from a long day’s work, and I am forever in awe of what something as small as a seed can bring into your life.
Do you donate?
